Horizont downed Telge Basket in a thriller to book a spot in the Eighth-Finals

The last three remaining Eighth-Finals places were all taken on Thursday night as the curtain fell on the EuroCup Women Regular Season.

And, it certainly proved to be a tension-filled evening in Group E, where Kristina Alikina was the toast of Minsk after producing an MVP performance to help Horizont take a dramatic and spine-tingling 65-64 success in a winner-takes-all showdown against Telge Basket.

The forward grabbed a sparkling double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds, before coming up with a last second block to help cement her team's place in the last sixteen.

Angelique Robinson had 19 points and seven rebounds for the heartbroken Swedes.

The other two clubs to progress to the post-season were actually playing each other in Group H, with hosts Antakya and visiting MBK Ruzomberok both reaching the Eighth-Finals at the expense of Vilnius Kibirkstis who lost out in a three-way tie.

The Slovak side needed to win the game otherwise they would have been dumped out of the competition, and Stefan Svitek and his players obliged with a 77-65 victory to progress - quite a turnaround after a terrible start to the campaign.

There were a trip of big performances which made the difference for the winning team with Eva Kmetova, Katarina Tetemondova and Sequoia Holmes combining for 50 points. Jolene Anderson had a massive 30 points and 10 rebounds for Antakya who endured a bitter-sweet evening.

In Group A, Satu Mare had the opportunity to wave goodbye to the competition on a real high, but were just edged out 77-74 by Chevakta on their home floor.

The already qualified Mersin wrapped up the action in Group C with a much more comfortable win against Spartak Noginsk than the final score of 62-53 suggested. The Russians posted a 24-10 last quarter to cut the gap, but had no answer to 22 points from Shavonte Zeallous or a mammoth 18 rebounds from Erlana Larkins.

In Group D, there was an entertaining and exciting match-up between Dynamo-GUVD and TSV Wasserburg with each team having the chance to win the contest during crunch time. The Russian club eventually got the job done 55-54 thanks mainly to 18 points from Yvonne Turner.

Also in Group D, Nantes Reze ensured BBC Sint-Katelijne-Waver stayed on zero wins after claiming a crushing 80-59 road win in Belgium. Daphne Van Dessel had an impressive 18 points for the home side whilst Caroline Aubert and Viktoria Mircheva combined for 33 points and 16 rebounds for the winners.

Dunav 8806 didn't manage to win a game either in Group F, although they can take pride from a gutsy display at defending champions Dynamo Kursk where they went down fighting 80-66. Kristina Santiago had 20 points for the visitors.

Group G had already been decided 24 hours earlier as VS Prague grabbed the last remaining spot- much to the disappointment of Partizan Galenika. However the Belgrade club did at least finish with a flourish by beating Dynamo Moscow 80-73 thanks to 28 points from Dajana Butulija.

Nadezhda Grishaeva had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the visitors who still finished as group winners.
