Ros Are Final Four Bound

25 February 2011

Ros Casares are headed back to the EuroLeague Women Final Four after beating Bourges 63-58 on Friday night.

Katie Douglas took center stage again for the Spanish outfit, leading all scorers in the contest with 24 points.

Douglas, who had 27 in Tuesday's 65-58 Quarter-Final Game 1 triumph, also had nine rebounds and a game-high three steals.

Unlike the opener, when Bourges charged back from a 16-point deficit and pulled to within one, Pierre Vincent's side managed to claw their way back from 13 points down and go in front.

Endene Miyem knotted the game at 44-44  early in the fourth quarter and then Ros guard Edwige Lawson-Wade was called for an unsportsmanlike foul on Ilona Burgrova.

She only made one of two free-throws to put Bourges in front, but while keeping possession they did not pad the lead.

Instead, Cindy Lima went to the other end and had a three-point play for Ros Casares, who then got baskets by Laia Palau and Douglas.

Emmeline Ndongue hit two free-throws for Bourges as they closed to within 51-47, but Douglas would go on to score seven more points with the Spanish team going in front by as many as 11 before settling for a five-point triumph.

Ros Casares got five points, seven rebounds and three assists for their floor leader, Laia Palau - a former player at Bourges.

They will now take on Spanish rivals Halcon Avenida in the Final Four.

Ros lost in last year's title game at home to Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje, who have also earned a trip to the Final Four.

Bourges got 20 points from Catherine Joens and 16 from Ndongue.
