Spanish champions and EuroLeague Women title hopefuls Ros Casares are deeper than most sides but no team wants to lose its leading rebounder and third leading scorer with big games coming up. Ross will be without their Brazil international center Erika De Souza for three weeks with a leg muscle injury, the club has confirmed. Erika has averaged 14.2 points and 9.6 rebounds in the first five games of the EuroLeague Women. Ros have won three of their first five games and travel to Lotos PKO BP Gdynia (2-3) this week, and the next two European contests Erika stands to miss are at home against USK Prague (1-4) and Group C leaders UMMC Ekaterinburg (5-0), one of just two sides still undefeated in Europe. Without Erika at the weekend, Ros Casares had no trouble on the road with a 90-55 demolition of MMT Estudiantes. Amaya Valdemoro poured in 25 points for the Valencia club. Spain's other team in the EuroLeague Women, red-hot Halcon Avenida easily won at home in Salamanca over EuroCup Women outfit Ibiza-PDV, 85-59. Latvia international Gunta Basko had 14 points for Avenida in that triumph. They go into this week's EuroLeague Women game at home to MiZo Pécs 2010 with four wins from five games. Avenida are top of Group A. |
