Gambrinus Sika Brno beat Ros Casares convincingly on Friday to set up a do-or-die EuroLeague Women quarter-final clash in Valencia on Wednesday.

All nine players who saw action for the Czech juggernauts scored, led by Hamchetou Maiga's 15 points, in a 65-55 victory over Ros who lost for only the second time in Europe this season.

After winning a close game at home, Manolo Real's team had to travel to Brno, where Gambrinus won the title two years ago by beating CSKA Volgaburmash (now CSKA Moscow).

They trailed Gambrinus by 18 points early in the fourth quarter but launched a furious fight back and had a chance to close the gap to one with just under 2:30 remaining  but Katie Douglas, the game's leading scorer with 22 points, turned the ball over and the Czech team pulled away.

Gambrinus out-rebounded Ros 39-27 and shot 25 of 47 (53.1%) inside the arc compared to Ros' 18 of 42 (42.8%).

The Spanish had their moments early on, going on an 8-0 run to lead 17-12.

But Jan Bobrovsky's team hit right back as Ivana Vecerová, one of the players in Bobrovsky's Czech national side, made a pair of baskets to spark an 8-0 run.

Hana Machova, who left Game One at half-time after picking up a minor injury, followed with a lay-up and Eva Viteckova capped the spurt with a jump shot to make it 20-17 midway through the second quarter.

Gambrinus gradually took command, leading 33-25 at half-time and once play resumed, they padded the advantage and had a 52-36 stranglehold by the end of the third quarter.

When Maiga opened up the final quarter with a lay-up, the lead ballooned to 54-36.

Ros showed their battling qualities, which bodes well for next week's game, by closing the gap to 59-55 with 2:49 remaining on a jump shot by Douglas.

Her shot forced Gambrinus coach Bobrovsky to call a timeout and when play resumed, Viteckova missed from long range but Douglas turned the ball over immediately after and Zuzana Zirkova, Viteckova and Machova finished the scoring for the 10-point triumph.
