|Ludovic Vaty gave BCM Gravelines their first win in the Last 16, scoring 22 points|
BCM Gravelines held off a furious late rally from French rivals Paris Levallois to get off the mark in Group J of the EuroChallenge with an 82-77 victory.
Gravelines watched a 21-point lead drop to six inside the final four minutes but Paris had ultimately left themselves with too much to do.
The game had been close for 25 minutes, with nine lead changes before Gravelines went on a storming run that appeared to put them in complete control.
Quick-fire back-to-back baskets from Kennedy Winston sparked a 14-0 run that turned a tied game into a 58-44 Gravelines lead.
David Noel sank a pair of free throws to make it 65-48 at the end of the period, and his dunk at the 4:08 mark put them up 77-56.
The job appeared all but done, but Paris had other ideas.
Sean May reeled off four quick points and when Giovan Oniangue made a dunk from Andrew Albicy's pass, the lead was down to 81-75 with 16 seconds left on a 19-4 Paris surge.
Juan Edwards split his free throws for Gravelines with 12 seconds left, but time was now against Paris and Albicy's late free throws were not enough.
Ludovic Vaty led Gravelines with 22 points while Dwight Buycks had 16 and Noel 15.
May scored 25 and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Paris. Albicy added 18 while Jawad Williams had 10.
The result leaves both teams at 1-1 in the group.
