Career: Vologda-Chevakata (Russia-Superleague, 2005-09) UMMC Ekaterinburg (Russia-Superleague, 2010-11)
Tatiana Vidmer made her debut at a major tournament for the senior National Team last summer at the FIBA World Championship Women and in terms of her impact, she proved to be something of a revelation after grabbing more steals, blocked shots and assists than anyone else. She also rebounded the ball well too and showed she is capable of delivering against the promise she showed a few years ago in the youth categories where she averaged double-doubles at three tournaments and landed a series of medals, including gold in 2004. She also played well at the FIBA U21 Championship Women in 2007 and then appeared for Russia at the World Student Games in Belgrade in 2009 where she won a silver medal. Strong defensively, with a healthy combination of size, wingspan and quick hands, she is a real competitor who opens doors offensively with her ability to pass to cutters in the lane from the low post position or kick the ball out effectively to the perimeter shooters. Vidmer offers a good all around package at both ends of the floor. |
