Anete Jekabsone-Zogota led the way for Dynamo Moscow as the Russians took a commanding lead in their EuroCup Women final against Faenza.

The Latvian international, who joined the team last summer from Bourges, scored 18 points and dished out eight assists as Dynamo prevailed 74-61 in  Italy.

Jekabsone-Zogota and Co can wrap up on the title on their home floor next  Wednesday.

The contest was close late in the third quarter, with Dynamo holding a 51-50 advantage.

That's when the visitors started to take control.

Nuria Martinez, the Spanish international, and Russian national team star Tatiana Shchegoleva each split a pair of free throws to spark an 11-0 run that Jekabsone-Zogota capped with a three-ball with 7:10 remaining.

Faenza would manage to trim their deficit to seven points, but Dynamo pressed home the advantage over the closing minutes and clinched a decisive win.

They will now return home, expecting to seal the title with a greater aggregate score from the two games.

Faenza did well to keep the game close as Dynamo did threaten to pull away in the second quarter.

Seimone Augustus made a three-pointer with just under two minutes remaining in the third quarter to give the Russian team a 40-33 lead.

The hosts battled back, however, scoring the next seven points with Simona Ballardini levelling the scores early in the third quarter.

Dynamo's hegemony on the boards - they out-rebounded Faenza 42-29 with Rebecca Brunson pulling down 14 and Shchegoleva 11 - and 51.2% (21 of 41) shooting inside the arc won the day.

Marija Eric had 16 points and four assists in defeat.
