|FIBA Europe Player of the Year candidate Alba Torrens hurt her knee in the clash with Gdynia on Thursday|
Galatasaray guard Alba Torrens will have her knee examined in Istanbul on Friday to determine the severity of the injury she suffered in a EuroLeague Women game at Lotos Gdynia on Thursday night in Poland.
A candidate for the 2011 FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year award (vote here) after leading Perfumerias Avenida to last season's EuroLeague Women title, Torrens was going for a rebound early in the second half when she stepped on someone and got hurt.
The 22-year-old Spain international, who left the game and went to the hospital to receive x-rays, had her leg immobilized.
The player's agent, Marc Ventura, spoke to Torrens.
He said to FEB.es: "The way she's held it together mentally, I found her well. Alba Torrens is thinking about recovering and said the game she must now play is this one."
Torrens has averaged 14.7 points per game in the EuroLeague Women this season.
Gala were on top of Lotos Gdynia, 62-45, when Torrens left the contest with 6:53 to go in the third quarter.
The Turkish club went on to win the game, 94-80, to improve to 10-2 in Group A.
