Iker Iturbe

Career: Totino Grace (USA-High School, 1992-94), Clemson (USA-NCAA Div. 1, 1994-98), Real Madrid (Spain-ACB, 1998-2002), Estudiantes Madrid (Spain-ACB, 2002-07)

He was not called for the 2006 World Championship team but after playing in the 2004 Olympic Games and EuroBasket 2005, it wouldn’t be a shock if he played for his country at EuroBasket 2007, especially after the injury of Jorge Garbajosa.  Iturbe is a superb three pointer shooter and as a result likes to play far from the basket.  In that regard, Iturbe is a good option to replace Garbajosa, another super long range shooter at power forward position. However, Iturbe lacks the size and rebounding skills to become a force in high-level competition, so his role would in all likelihood be limited. The 1.98 m Vitoria native played a key role in Estudiantes’ run to the EuroCup Final Four.
