Estudiantes endured a very difficult stretch this season which saw the Madrid club tumble down the ACB table and into relegation danger.
The EuroCup side has stopped the rot, however, with a come-from-behind triumph at home over Etosa Alicante on Saturday giving the club its third straight league win.
Alicante led by as many as seven points in the final period, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Estu who went on a 19-0 run to stun the visitors en route to a 90-81 victory.
Mariano De Pablos’ Estu pulled level at 73-73 midway through the quarter on back-to-back three-pointers from Iker Iturbe and Carlos Suarez, who then followed with a three-point play.
Estu scored the next 10 points to take command.
McDonald had 20 points, Saurez 15 and Iturbe 14 to pace Estu, who improved their record to 10-13.
Estudiantes host Dynamo Moscow Region in the EuroCup quarter-finals this week.
