Leaders Vojvodina still boast a perfect record in the Serbian NASA Liga, but they came close to defeat as Zdravlje fought bravely before losing 82-77 to the pacesetters who improve to 8-0.
Zdravlje had a 10-point lead at the end of the third quarter with Vojvodina looking jaded by their EuroCup defeat at the hands of Maroussi.
However, the leaders took the last quarter 31-16 with captain Ivan Ivanovic scoring a game-high 23 points for the winners while Milos Miljkovic scored 17 for Zdravlje, but none in the final 10 minutes.
Vojvodina coach Velimir Gasic said: "We expected a tough challenge against well-motivated opponents and that's the way it turned out.
"We missed a lot of shots behind the arc until we found the right rhythm and our new modified defence helped us a lot.
"We tried it for the first time in the final period of the match."
Next best after Vojvodina are Masinac and Mega Ishrana who are both 6 2.
With 16 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Uros Mirkovic was Masinac's star in the 65-50 win over Beograd, while Mega Ishrana's Branislav Vicentic poured in 23 points in a 108-88-crushing of Ergonom.
Miljan Bocka scored 14 points for Novi Sad, who easily outplayed Swisslion Takovo 75-57 and went fourth - a position that would earn a spot in the Superleague where the top four in the NASA League would join Partizan, Red Star, FMP and Hemofarm.
Napredak finally won their first match at the eighth time of asking and, in a 90-67 routing of Borac, Ivan Vukadinov drained 24 points for the hosts.
Milos Bojovic's 23 points and five steals were crucial for Sloga's 100-97 win at Radnicki. |
