Vojvodina Srbijagas coach Velimir Gasic insists there is room for improvement in his side, despite seeing his players start their 2006/07 campaign in superb fashion.
Srbijagas, Serbia's only representative in this season's EuroCup, top the Nasa Liga standings after consecutive wins in the opening rounds, against Napredak (115-83) and Borac (81-65).
These victories came after the team earlier triumphed in a a regional tournament in Tuzla, while they also secured victories over Dusseldorf and German champions Koln on a European trip.
Gasic nevertheless feels the team could improve on some areas of their game.
"We are playing well, but we are still allowing opponents to get back to us in the match when the level of our defensive performance drops," he said.
"I would like our periods of good play to last longer during the game, but I'm aware it is not easy to play aggressively for 40 minutes.
"Still, with good work and quality training sessions, we will reach our goals."
In the EuroCup, Vojvodina - who have not appeared in continental competition since 2003 - will compete against CEZ Nymburk, Maroussi and ASK Riga.
Before their first match of the EuroCup, against Maroussi in Novi Sad on November 7, they will visit unbeaten Swisslion Takovo and host bottom of-the-table OKK Beograd in the domestic championship.
"A season full of interesting games is ahead of us," Gasic added.
"In the domestic matches, our team will get a chance to grow, and in European games, we'll see what are we capable of.
"We are in a very tough EuroCup group. Our rivals are clubs with tradition and who have strong squads. Therefore, our youngsters will have a chance to prove how good they are when our European adventure begins." |
