Vojvodina Srbijagas and Mega Ishrana continued their domination of the Nasa Liga, recording victories to start the preliminary phase of the competition in which 12 clubs seek four places in the Superleague.
On paper, Vojvodina faced a tough game against another unbeaten team, Swisslion, but they cruised to an 86-69 victory behind 19 points from Hungary international Istvan Nemeth.
Radovan Markovic scored 17 points for Swisslion, but the game was taken away from them in the third quarter when Serbia`s only FIBA EuroCup team built a 61-45 advantage.
"We've played like a real team. Our great preparation for this game was transformed into quality performance at the court, and victory was simply inevitable," said Vojvodina's coach Velimir Gasic.
Mega Ishrana continued their own fine form as they putplayed Borac in a 96-82 win. Milovan Rakovic scored 21 points to lead four visiting players with 18 or more, while Borac's Predrag Markovic led all scorers with 26 points.
"We were better through the whole match," said Mega Ishrana's coach Oliver Popovic, a former Borac player. "The winner was decided by our better rebounding. We have had more assists and less turnovers than our opponents, and that was crucial."
Elsewhere, Zdravlje were 58-81 victors at Napredak as power forward Ivan Miceta scored 20 points for the visitors, while Miljan Bocka's 17 points were crucial in Novi Sad`s first win of the season, who handed Radnicki their first defeat in an 87-75 win.
