Slovakian side Kosit 2013 Kosice claimed a hard-fought 70-62 win over Belgium's Dexia Namur in Group C of the EuroLeague Women.

Dexia went into the game hoping to build on their win over USVO last week and rushed into a 4-0 lead after a three-point shot from Elzbieta Miedzik.

However, Kosit fought back and eventually got themselves level at 19-19, before two successful free throws from Marjorie Carpreaux gave Dexia a 21-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Dexia then went 27-24 in front in the second quarter but once again Kosit refused to lie down and three-pointers from Kathryn Ann Gearlds and center Alena Kovacova saw them 38-32 ahead at half-time.

The Kosice side, who were beaten 62-60 by Spartak Moscow in their first game, bounced back in the third quarter.

Kosit claimed a 55-53 lead after crucial contributions from Luisa Michulkova and Ivana Jalcova gave them the advantage at the end of the period.

Two free throws from Jalcova almost saw Kosit break clear of the the Belgian side but Jennifer Fleischer hauled Dexia back into the game to reduce the deficit to two points with just over a minute remaining.

But Janel McCarville and Alena Kovacova showed their class in the dying stages, both netting free throws, to give Kosit the victory.
