Cholet upset defending champions Strasbourg on Sunday while French leaders Pau Orthez claimed a narrow road victory at Nancy.

Cholet, who can now firmly focus on matters in Pro A after being eliminated from contention for honours in the EuroCup, trailed by three points at the end of three quarters but won 78-72 at Rhenus Sport.

Dynamo St Petersburg delivered a first-quarter knockout punch against French visitors Cholet on Tuesday in an 86-57 triumph in EuroCup Group A.

Dynamo, last year's FIBA Europe League champions, had already booked their place in Round II but that did not stop them from reeling off the first 13 points of the game.

Cholet kept their slim hopes alive of advancing from Group A in the EuroCup with a 79-70 win over Romania's CSU Asesoft Ploiesti.

The triumph was their first in four games, and it avenged their defeat to Ploiesti in the first week of the competition.
