Generale, Pieper Save Monaco

In the opener, Wales trailed the Principality of Monaco 29-16 at half-time but mounted a furious comeback and cut the deficit to 40-35 by the end of the third quarter.

A 6-0 Welsh run consisting of a basket by Connor Hetherton, two free-throws from Arwell Goulbourne and a lay-up from Nico-Pele Wilson then knotted the game at 46-46 with 2:41 to go.

Wilson followed with a jumper to put Wales on top, 48-46.

Monaco were on the ropes, but Alessandro Generale and Daniel Pieper came to the rescue.

Generale buried a three-ball with 1:09 to go and then Pieper followed with another jump shot in the waning seconds.

The Principality held on for a narrow triumph.

Generale finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Pieper had himself quite a game as well with 13 points and 13 boards.

Wilson finished with 15 points and eight rebounds in defeat.

Down 18-17 at the end of the first quarter, San Marino shifted into a higher gear and outscored the Maltese 19-5 over the next 10 minutes for a 36-23 lead.

Luca Giannotti was among the San Marino players to stand out in that frame, scoring six of his 17 points.

Luca Liberti's side kept the pressure on and extended their lead to 53-34 by the end of the third quarter and they eased home in the final frame.

Lucas Barrena also weighed in with nine points and 10 rebounds for the winners.

Haefner Turns On The Style

Gibraltar's Jake Haefner shone bright in his team's 25-point triumph over Andorra.

Haefner poured in 28 of his points in the first half as Gibraltar claimed a 40-21 lead.

Gibraltar wasted no time in establishing hegemony over their opponents.

With the game just four minutes old, the tournament hosts reeled off 11 unanswered points for a 17-5 lead.

Midway through the second quarter, Andorra managed to close the gap to 29-21, but Gilbraltar went on another 11-0 run.

That second burst gave Jonathan Joseph Britto's side a 19-point stranglehold on proceedings and they never turned back in the second half in rolling to a decisive victory.
