Day three of the U18 European Championship Division C saw Wales join San Marino at the top of the table with a perfect 2-0 record while Gibraltar fell to 0-3 and Andorra got their first victory.
The big thriller of the day was when Wales faced Moldova and enjoyed a 74-72 victory after a huge fourth quarter comeback.
Jacob Lloyd led Wales with 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists. while Sumiullah Khan added 16.
Vladislav Solopa led Moldova with 23 points, seven rebounds and five steals while Daniel Marcenco had his usual by now double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
Moldova was on top of this game for over three quarters, step by step building a 48-61 gap at the end of the third quarter, yet Wales came back and took their first lead in the game with only 16 seconds left to play after Lloyd's lay-up set the score on 73-72.
Moldova missed a shot before the buzzer and sent Wales to lock the win from the foul line.
Following the win Wales take a 2-0 record in the group tied with San Marino. Moldova fell to 1-2 with just one more game for them to play.
Andorra earned their debut win after meeting Gibraltar and taking a 97-43 triumph.
Already after one quarter Andorra led 26-12 and by limiting their opponent to only six points in the second quarter secured the win.
Oriol Peral collected 18 points and seven rebounds in only 12 minutes to lead the winners. Brandon Sawyer of Gibraltar set his tournament high with 14 points and added eight rebounds.
Tomorrow San Marino will take on Gibraltar and Wales will face Andorra.
