Seven-footer Andy Betts is in the Great Britain squad for Wednesday night's clash in the Czech Republic. Betts, a long-time player in the England set-up who helped the Brits win promotion last season, has not been 100% fit but is now able to help Chris Finch's team as they attempt to win their final two games and clinch first place in EuroBasket Division A, Group D. "Having Andy back is great as we have more depth and more experience there," Finch said. "He is one more player who the Czech Republic has not prepared for or seen before." Betts missed the first game at the London O2 Arena when Britain won 87-68. Britain followed that up with a triumph over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Birmingham and on Saturday avenged their 102-92 defeat in overtime against Israel with a 96-86 win over Zvi Sherf's team in Liverpool. "We play so many games in such a short amount of time, so we know depth is important and we need those guys to come and play," Finch said. "Saturday was a good example of that. "I think last year we had a pretty deep team in that we could shuffle the line-up to balance the experience and needs of the team, but this year we are pretty inexperienced so we need more guys who can make plays to help than last year." Britain are 3-1 going into the game while the Czechs are 2-2. |
