Spain: Rudy, Archibald Lead The Way As DKV Thrash Alicante

EuroCup Final Four side DKV Joventut climbed into fourth place in the Spanish top flight on Sunday with a 95-76 triumph over Etosa Alicante.

Rudy Fernandez, DKV's young Spanish international, erupted for 27 points and Scotland's Robert Archibald had a season-high 21 points for the winners.

DKV Joventut are to face Final Four hosts BC Kyiv in one semi-final, with the big event staged in Ukraine from April 7-9. Dynamo St Petersburg take on BC Khimki in the other semi-final.

Gran Canaria, another of the ACB teams that took part in the EuroCup this season, suffered a major collapse in the second half of their game at Leche Rio Breogan and lost 71-67.

Gran Canaria led 47-27 at half-time but were outscored 21-11 in the third quarter and then Moncho Lopez's Breogan completed their fightback in the fourth, winning that quarter 23-9.

The defeat leaves Gran Canaria level with DKV on 14 wins and eight losses, but DKV are fourth due to a superior points average.

Winterthur Barcelona remain tops in Spain Liga ACB with a 17-5 record thanks to their 87-81 victory over basement side Llanera Menorca.

Barcelona, for whom Juan Carlos Navarro stood out with a 26-point haul, entered the final quarter with an eight-point advantage but had to cope with a decent fightback by the lowly visitors in the final few minutes.

TAU Ceramica and Unicaja stay hot on the heels of the leaders on 16-6 records after both sides secured home wins.

TAU beat Forum Valladolid 78-73 while Unicaja saw off CB Granada 85 75.

Elsewhere, Lagun Aro Bilbao Basket defeated Akasvayu Girona 89-82, Pamesa Valencia lost 88-81 to Adecco Estudiantes and Real Madrid thrashed Alta Gestion Fuenlabrada 84-66.
