Panionios wrapped up their Group G EuroCup first-phase campaign with a convincing 88-70 triumph at the expense of group whipping boys PBC CSKA Sofia.

The Bulgarians looked set to exit on high after gaining the upper hand in the first half which they took 43-39 with some exciting basketball.

The Greeks had edged the first period 23-22 despite Bradley Robert Traina scoring the last points of the quarter with a dunk for the visitors.

Early in the second period, a Gregory Danielson three-pointer put the Bulgarians in front and Yordan Bozov scored with a jump shot to take the score to 28-23 in CSKA's favour.

Danielson's layup and two Traina free throws extended the lead to 32-23 and completed a 10-0 run for the visitors but the lead was reduced to four points by the midway point.

Panionios then went on a seven point run at the start of the third with Andre Hutson getting a layup and a free throw while Panagiotis Kafkis and Dragan Dojcin both added baskets to put the Greeks 46-43 ahead.

The hosts went on a 10 point run to take the score from 46-45 to 56-45 and the lead stood at 66-55 at the end of the third.

They eased comfortably home in the fourth and finish second in the Group with a 4/2 record while CSKA bow out of the competition with a 1/5 effort.

Traina's EuroCup season may be over but he top scored with a game-high 22 points while Danielson added 10 boards to his 17 points. Also reaching double digits for the losers was Dimitar Mirakovski with 10.

For the victors, Kennedy Winston poured in 16 points while Dojcin managed 13 as did Kafkis. Hutson made a 12-point contribution while Damir Miljkovic added 10.
