|Lithuania's guard Dovydas Redikas was Croatia's executioner with 17 points. The Baltic team live to fight another day thanks to this victory|
A historical moment took place in the U20 European Championship on Saturday, as Croatia fell to Division B following a 92-68 defeat to Lithuania in the 13-16 Classification Round.
This is the first time ever Croatia drop to Division B since the new system was implanted.
2012 will be the first time since 1996 that Croatia won't play in the U20 European Championship, while only last year they made the Semi-Finals.
Lithuania improved their record to 2-3 and will play tomorrow against Austria.
The winner of that encounter will join Serbia and survive in Division A.
The loser will drop together with Croatia to the lower division.
Dovydas Redikas had 19 points and six rebounds, Arnas Butkevicius added 17 points while Augustas Peciukevicius and Karolis Brusokas had 12 each.
Ivan Batur and Duje Dukan had 11 points each.
Lithuania enjoyed the better start and held a 26-17 lead after one half but Dukan was in charge of Croatia's come back and at the half time break it was a 44-45 Croatian lead.
Butkevicius and Peciukevicius pushed Lithuania up in the third quarter, far enough to take a 15 point lead, 67-52 and Redikas made sure Croatia won't be able to escape from the big hole, leading straight to Division B.
