The last day of the Qualifying Round was certainly a memorable one for Poland, Austria, Bulgaria and Sweden who are all now just one win away from Division A and will play in the promotion games this Friday. The biggest losers are Great Britain who were edged out in a three-way tie in Group F and paying a heavy price for their 20 point loss by Austria earlier in the tournament.

Great Britain beat Slovak Republic by a comfortable 82-66 score line early in the day thanks to and had to sit nervously and wait for the outcome of Austria against Poland with a win for the hosts an absolute must. However, it was Poland that booked their place in the promotion games alongside Austria after completing an 82-78 win and leaving Great Britain crestfallen.

Poland had led by ten points heading into the final four minutes and Austria pushed really hard to get within four points but just couldn't do Great Britain the favour they craved. Jaroslaw Mokros was the star for Poland after drilling home four triples in his 15 point haul to go with his seven rebounds.

At the top of Group F, Bulgaria and Sweden tested their skills against each other in a fight for top spot and it was Sweden who prevailed by inflicting a first loss of the tournament on Bulgaria. The Swedes came out with a 74-61 victory to take top spot and they will now face Poland in the semi-finals while Bulgaria will face Austria. Alexander Lindqvist had 19 points for the winners while Aleksandar Georgiev harvested a fifth double-double in six games for Bulgaria.

Elsewhere on the last day of the Qualifying Round, a stunning 29-8 second quarter performance by Belgium and an even more remarkable shooting performance by Dennis Donkor helped them complete an 85-69 win against Norway - Donkor scoring a magical nine of eleven triples.

Israel took third place in Group E with a 78-62 success against Finland with Yotam Shiran scoring 18 points.
