Four teams finished their OMNITEL U18 European Championship games already on Saturday night in the 9-12 classification round at Lietuvos Rytas Arena in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Spain ended the championship on a positive note after smashing Italy 84-59 to take the 11th spot while the losing side will find comfort in the 12th position.

Pere Oriola hit 19 points and Joan Tomas added 10 for Spain while Italy, once again without Alessandro Gentile, saw only Matteo Montano reach double-digits with 13.

A late second quarter run sent Spain to the break up by 11, and an even better third quarter created a difference impossible for Italy to fix on such shooting night.

In the battle for the ninth spot in the ranking Turkey edged Slovenia 74-71 behind a 10-3 run late in the 4th quarter.

Safak Edge enjoyed another good shooting day with 20 points and Can Korkmaz added 14 with 4 assists.

In Slovenia Alen Omic wrote 17 points and 11 rebounds and was joined by Marko Pajic not too far behind with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

It was Slovenia with the control of the game first after holding a 10-29 lead early in the second quarter.

Turkey made their first run in the third period, and another 15-2 in the deciding quarter to take the lead and secure the win with the final minutes run.

After scoring 27 points in the opening quarter Slovenia added only 24 the entire second half, to take the 10th spot in the championship, while Turkey is ranked 9th.
