J.R. Holden's jumper with 2.1 seconds left secured Russia their first-ever EuroBasket title with a thrilling 60-59 victory over reigning world champions and hosts Spain.

Pau Gasol had a chance to win the game at the buzzer but his mid-range jumpshot went in and out, leaving Spain to collect their sixth European silver medal.

Poland are hosting EuroBasket 2009 but right now, the national team doesn't have a coach.

The federation has confirmed that Koln's very successful boss, 39-year-old Sasa Obradovic, is one of the candidates to take the reins.

Preliminary Media Numbers Hit Record Highs
Record television coverage, increased media accreditation requests and impressive internet numbers all serve as proof that the 2007 editions of EuroBasket and EuroBasket Women were the most successful in the competitions’ long history.

Based on provisional statistics from only 24 of the major European networks, Eurobasket 2007 has generated over 1,000 hours of coverage and been watched by a cumulative 121 million viewers.
