Fresh off a second consecutive EuroLeague Women title, Samara and Belgium national team star Ann Wauters barely has time to draw breath before she heads to the USA and the WNBA's New York Liberty.
We managed to catch up with Ann before her departure to get the lowdown on her favourite basketball shoes, Maria Stepanova's dunk and her most embarrassing moment on the basketball court.
What is your first sporting memory?
Wauters: I went to gym class when I was 7 but it didn't take me long to realise that I was too tall to be any good at it.
What was the last book you read?
Wauters: My last book was the Da Vinci Code, I really enjoyed that book.

Wauters: That is a good question. I have played in Belgium, France and now in Russia. I can play anywhere as long as I have a good team. We have a great team here in Samara and the team is very professional with their players. We have great facilities here.
If you could change any rule in basketball, what would it be?
Wauters: I don't have a problem with the rules at all but sometimes they should just let us play and not break a game by calling stupid little fouls.
What is your dream car?
Wauters: My dream car is a bmw or volvo jeep.
What is your favourite basketball shoe of all time?
Wauters: I play with nike hurrache for the moment and they fit me really well.
Who is the greatest female basketball player ever?
Wauters: There are many female basketball players that I have great respect for. To name one is difficult. I would say Tamika Catchings, she is a fabulous athlete and a great person.
What luxury can you not do without?
Wauters: To have a fresh diet Coke on my fridge!
What did you do on your last day off?
Wauters: We actually had a barbecue with the team here in Samara. The weather was a little better and we were all enjoying it to be outside.
What ring tone do you have on your mobile phone?
Wauters: The samba party!?
What is your favourite gadget?
Wauters: My ipod.
Which web site do you surf the most often?
Wauters: I check my email and go fibaeurope.com and wnba.com.
Were you surprised by Maria Stepanova’s dunk this season (Editor's note: Stepanova threw down a two-handed dunk on a breakaway in the Russian League in December)?
Wauters: My teammate Edwige Lawson and I were so excited!! Macha Stepanova had a little smile on her face and the Russian crowd thought it was pretty good. Macha has so much talent and is a wonderful person, mom and teammate.
How many languages do you speak?
Wauters: I speak Dutch, French and English and I will speak Russian in two years...
What is your most embarrassing basketball memory?
Wauters: When I played for Aalst (Belgium), I was 15 years old. We had warming up shorts. When the game was about to begin I was taking off my warming up shorts but I found myself in front of teammates and crowd in my underwear! Hadn't put on my warming up shorts so I took off my game shorts instead..
What is the worst thing about being a professional athlete?
Wauters: To be far from home and miss family and friends!!
