Croatia reached an impressive win against hosts Hungary, 60-49, on the second day of the Pannergy U18 European Championship Women Division B in Miskolc.
The hosts led most of the way and entered the decisive quarter with a six-point lead, 45-39.
But from that moment on everything went wrong for Hungary. Two steals by Iva Cigic ignited a furious comeback for the Croatians.
They scored 15 points in a row, and with four minutes to go they were in the driving seat.
Ivana Tikvic scored four of her 17 points in the last 15 seconds to seal the game.
She was the leader of her team in all statistical categories, with 14 rebounds, four assists, five steals and four blocks.
Fanni Szabo tried to match Tikvic, and went for 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists, five steals and three blocks, with Andrea Szamosi leading Hungarian scoring with 21 points.
In the other game of Group B, Portugal got their first win of the tournament, 71-49 against Switzerland behind the 22 points of Joana Jesus. Alexandra Koch had nine points for the losing side.
In Group A, Bulgaria was carried over by Iva Kostova, who scored 28 points in a big win against England, 69-62.
In the same group, Belarus edged Germany 53-50. Darya Lipinskaya finished with 16 points and four rebounds for the winners, while Sophie Eder was the only German player in double digits, with 13 points.
Finland and Israel stayed perfect after the second day. Finland won the Nordic duel with Denmark, 82-61, with Eva Iiskola scoring 24 points.
Israel edged Luxembourg 84-71, despite a huge game from Lena Hetto, who posted a double-double for the losing side, 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Finally, in Group D, Greece already has the ticket to the Qualifying Round after a win against Austria, 59-31, while Latvia routed Norway, 69-44, to increase their chances to advance into the next round.
