Latvia and Bulgaria provided the surprises of the U16 European Championship for Women Division B quarter-finals on Friday as the last four line-up was set in Arad.
An 18-4 run in the second quarter provided the platform for Latvia's 67-52 victory over Lithuania with Ieva Spigule scoring 16 points in the upset.
In Saturday's first semi-final, the Latvians will face England who - behind 20 from Shequila Joseph - defeated Romania 63-50 to end the hosts' ambitions.
Iva Georgieva was Bulgaria's hero, converting a late three-point play as her side, propelled by 30 points from Borislava Hristova, snatched a 61-59 win over Portugal.
They will now face Germany, the tournament's only unbeaten side, who ousted Ukraine 85-79 in an overtime thriller. Noémie Rouault and Emma Stach scored 28 apiece with the Germans out-gunning their rivals 9-3 in OT.
The two winners of the semi-finals will be promoted into Division A.
