When I headed for Naples I never anticipated experiencing the kind of emotion I felt standing courtside last Friday.

The sensation of a slight lump in the throat and feeling more than a little choked after being completely immersed in the raw passion and almost unbearable tension of two extraordinary basketball games.

Golden Girls From Spain Beat Belgium In Final Thriller

In a fitting finale to a superb tournament, reigning champions Spain edged out Belgium 57-53 to secure back to back gold medals as Naples was treated to another incredible overtime thriller.

Andrea Vilaro showed why she made the All Tournament Team with another stellar display as she claimed a superb double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Emma Meesseman Gets MVP Trophy

Belgium star Emma Meesseman was crowned MVP after lighting it up in Naples with a string of double-doubles on her way to helping her team reach the Final of the tournament.

The center impressed the voting coaches not just with her stunning numbers and sparkling displays, but also her level headed approach and hard work in the paint for her team at both ends of the floor.
