The Netherlands rolled to an 82-54 triumph over Denmark on Wednesday to finish their EuroBasket Division B campaign with five wins in eight games.
With Montenegro having already wrapped up first place in Group A and a spot in the play-offs, the Dutch played for pride and signed off in style with Bryan Defares' 17 points and six rebounds leading the way.
Trailing 16-15 at the end of the first quarter, Gadi Kedar's team outscored the Danes 23-12 over the next 10 minutes and then lowered the boom in the third frame, pouring in 30 points to just eight for the visitors.
Kedar spoke of his regret that his team had been drawn in the same group as Montenegro, calling them "by far the best of all 15 teams in the B Division".
That is probably true, at least it was on Wednesday as the Montenegrins destroyed visiting Iceland, 102-58.
Vladimir Golubovic had 18 points and eight rebounds and fellow center Nikola Pekovic scored 17 while pulling down 10 boards for the Montenegrins, who finish their Division B campaign this weekend against Denmark (0-7).
