Georgia's long-suffering basketball fans have finally been rewarded with a place in Division A of the EuroBasket following their national team's 86-84 win over Belarus on Wednesday night.
With a 14-point cushion following their 89-75 win in the opening leg in Belarus, the Georgians prevailed 175-159 on aggregate.
The Georgians caught fire from long range, nailing 12 of 19 shots for a scintillating 63.2%.
Hopes of a comeback in the second contest for Belarus appeared to be dashed when they were outscored 27-19 in the first quarter to trail by 22 points in the tie.
Belarus didn't give up and even took a 73-71 lead early in the fourth quarter which left then behind by 12 over the two legs.
Georgia's advantage in the tie never dipped below 10 points, however.
Viktor Sanikidze had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Georgia, who narrowly missed out promotion in previous summers.
Aliaksandr Kudrautsau finished with a game-high 28 points in defeat.
