Slovenia, Belgium and Latvia stormed into the semi-finals on the back of wins in the Qualifying Round for places one through eight at the U18 European Championship for Women. Latvia finished top of Group F after a 79-46 triumph over the Netherlands and Belgium came second following a 67-51 victory over Hungary. The Baltic country took command of their game against the Dutch with a strong second quarter. The Latvians outscored their opponents 24-11 in the frame for a 45-30 lead and then pressed home the advantage in the third. Sabine Niedola had 17 points to lead the Latvians. Belgium won their game against the Hungarians after a fine performance from Jana Raman, who had 18 points. Slovenia thrashed Greece 84-52 and finished first in Group E. Both sides advanced to the semi-finals. In the last four, Slovenia will take on Belgium and Greece will meet Latvia. |
