Hungary and Poland Into Finals


Hungary and Poland will play for the Termosteps U16 European Championship Men, Division B later today in Skopje, Macedonia.

The Hungarians were easy winners over England in their semi-final behind a 30 point, 10 rebound effort from big man Adam Lepsenyi.

Lepsenyi shot exactly 50% from the game and did equally well from in and outside, connecting on six of 12 from two-point range and an impressive five of 10 from beyond the arc.

Hungary were 10 points better then England in the first quarter and although the English played better in the second period they never recovered.

It was a good night all around for the Hungarians as they shot an impressive 54% from the field.

Ryan Richards led England with 27 points and 14 rebounds.

The other semi-final was a closer affair with Poland slipping past Sweden 69-67.

The Poles got off to a fast start and though the Swedes chipped away at their lead the rest of the game they ultimately fell short.

The Scandinavians took an 7-6 lead on the strength of a Olof Jagbeck three-pointer but then Poland turned on the style, outscoring their opponents 23-8 to take a 29-15 lead going into the second quarter.

Poland were led by Sebastian Szymanski who had 16 points to go with eight rebounds.
