With a day and a half of the UMCOR U18 European Championship for Women Division B in Timisoara, Romania in the books, Slovenia and Romania have shown their class, both coming away winners in their first two games.
The Romanians have come away with a pair of hard fought wins, victorious by a total of nine points in the two contests.
In their first game the hosts got 26 points and 10 rebounds from Claudia Pop and 16 points and eight boards from Elisabeth Pavel as they came away 78-68 victors, though the plucky Montenegrins led by a point at the end of the third quarter..
Alexandra Uiuiu also chipped in with 15 points and five rebounds.
In their second game, a 63-59 win over Croatia, Pavel and Pop shined again with Pavel recording a double-double consisting of 27 points and 12 rebounds.
Slovenia on the other hand are also undefeated after two days of action after recording an impressive 70-57 win over Greece on day two.
Nika Baric was the leading scorer in the game with 20 points to go with 4 assists while Tina Trebec chipped in with 10 rebounds.
The Slovenia’s were also impressive in their first game, topping Scotland 70-51 behind a double-double from Trebec.
In Group A Ireland scored an impressive day two win, bouncing back from an opening day loss to Denmark by dispatching Belgium 69-67.
The Irish led by 13 at the end of the third quarter but had to hold off a furious Belgian rally to secure the win.
Belgium scored nine straight coming out of the break, capped by a Celine Demonceau three-pointer.
