Milovanovic Ready For Spain

Tournament MVP candidate Jelena Milovanovic believes Serbia will avenge last year's defeat to Spain because they have homecourt advantage.

Serbia take on the defending champions on Sunday at the UMCOR U18 European  Championship for Women in Novi Sad and much of their hopes will rely on Milovanovic's

Milovanovic was on fire against Russia, scoring 32 points.

The Red Star Belgrade forward, who is the top scorer of the tournament,  averaging 18.6 points per game, has been pivotal in Serbia reaching the final game as the only unbeaten team.

Her 32-point display crushed Russia 75-53 in the semi-final to warm up for the top clash against Spain.

"I think this year we can beat Spain," said Milovanovic, who won silver in last year's tournament in Tenerife.

"We are the host team and I think that was the key to Spain winning last year in Tenerife.

"We are really motivated and we know we face a good team but we have a good chance."

Milovanovic has played down her heroics and insists the secret of Serbia's sucess so far has been team play.

"All I am focused on is helping my team do well," said Milovanovic.

"I am happy if I can contribute to victory and that is all I care about, not so much my individual performance.

"There's a great atmosphere in the team. We spend a lot of time together and we enjoy each others company.

"We are very good friends and I think it's very important to be like that on the court.

"I think we have shown it so far that we are not a one-player team.

"We are good individual players but we are trying to play like a team."
