Cenk Akyol and Ersan Ilyasova each scored 18 points as Turkey beat Croatia 91-72 to go top of Group F in the quarter-final round at the OSTCHEM U-20 European Championships.
With their home fans cheering them on, Turkey never trailed and pulled away in the first quarter. Croatia trailed 8-6 with 6:58 gone, but Ilyasova scored 10 points as the Turks went on a 20-5 run for a 28-13 lead after 10 minutes.
Nihat Izic's troops pushed the advantage up to 18 early in the second quarter before leading 43-31 at half-time.
Hrvoje Kovacevic's lay-up to start the second half cut the lead to 10 points - 43-33. But Croatia would not get any closer.
Turkey doubled that lead with a Berent Kavaklioglu lay-up in the third - 63-43, and the Turks pushed the advantage to 22 points numerous times in the fourth quarter.
Joining Aykol and Ilyasova in double figures were Semih Erden with 15 points and Oguz Savas with 10 points. In addition, Hakan Demirel contributed 11 points, eight assists and three steals.
Stanko Barac scored 16 points in a losing cause while Andrija Stipanovic had 13 points and Damjan Rudez 10 points.
