Slovakia coach Peter Valo praised his team's fighting spirit after they came from behind to post an 80-75 victory over the Netherlands in Group B of EuroBasket 2007 qualifying Division B.
Radoslav Rancik scored a game-high 31 points while Anton Gavel added 19 for the hosts, who trailed 60-55 at the end of the third quarter before turning things around in the final 10 minutes.
Valo said: "Holland led for almost all of the game - their advantage was nine points at one stage.
"But Rancik and Gavel started to play well after that while our other players also fought better. Our aggressive defense finally secured the win and I have to say the fans helped us a lot too."
The victory took Slovakia up to third in Group B with a 3-3 record, just one point behind their opponents.
Valo's men will next face foot-of-the-table Albania on Wednesday while the Netherlands host Great Britain.
