With a dominating fourth quarter finish, Sweden took down Latvia 72-62 to win the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women Division B title in Finland.

Going into the fourth quarter trailing 58–50, Sweden outscored Latvia 22-4 in the last ten minutes of the game to cap off a remarkable comeback which enabled them to claim the gold medal.

They trailed 21-5 after the game’s first eight minutes as everything indicated a Latvia win in the early stages of the contest.

But Stefanie Yderstrom scored seven of her 10 points in the second quarter and Frida Fodgemark hit two of her three three-point field goals before halftime to help Sweden cut Latvia’s lead to 37-34.

In the third quarter, Sweden went cold, scoring just one-point over a 3:30 minute stretch midway through the quarter.

Anete Steinberga scored nine of her team-high 18 points for Latvia in the third quarter to put her side ahead by eight before Sweden rallied with their fourth quarter performance to ultimately win the game.

Fodgemark led the Swedes with 13 points.
