Latvia ensured a place in the semi-finals of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women Division B with a 78-50 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina on Wednesday.
The win gives Latvia a 2-0 record in Group F.
Bosnia & Herzegovina got another outstanding display from the tournament's leading scorer Matea Tavic, but her 28 points and 8 rebounds were not enough to prevent a heavy defeat.
Latvia got a far more balanced effort with all 12 players getting on the score sheet. The Latvians also shot 49% from 2-point range (as opposed to 35% for Bosnia & Herzegovina), out-rebounded their opponents 43-29 and dished 12 assists to Bosnia & Herzegovina's 3.
It wasn't long before the Latvians established a stranglehold on the game and an 11-2 run at the end of the first quarter saw them establish a 21-11 advantage.
Latvia continued to fire on all cylinders in the second quarter as Laura Vetra hit 6 points in a 7-0 run to start the quarter, 28-11.
Bosnia & Herzegovina continued to struggle and managed just 7 points in the third quarter.
Two free throws from Sabine Niedola at the start of the final period opened up a 30-point lead for Latvia, 60-30, and even Tavic's 15 fourth quarter points were not enough to stop a heavy defeat.
