Russia overcame the disappointment of being beaten by Serbia & Montenegro by beating Israel in the Quarter-Final Round of the Under-18 European Championship.
The hosts edged Russia 75-70 in their opening last-eight clash on Tuesday but the Russians responded with a 93-79 victory over Israel.
There was not much between the two sides during the first half with Russia holding a 21-19 advantage at the end of the first quarter while Israel led 49-48 at the half.
However, the Russians then showed their quality by racing clear in the third quarter and they consolidated their lead by winning the last period 26-17.
Israel's Elishay Kadir was the game's stand-out performer, scoring a mammoth 34 points, and Vasily Zavoruev was top scorer for the winners.
The guard followed up his game-high haul of 16 points on Tuesday with another 32, while team-mate Yaroslav Korolev also deserves a mention for his 19-point contribution.
