The Irish Senior men have released their final squad that will compete in Division B EuroBasket action in September.
The Ireland Men get back into competitive action with a home game against Malta on September 3rd at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin. Ireland will then travel to Geneva on September 7th to attempt to repeat their 2004 victory over Switzerland.
Victory in these two games will set up the crunch tie against Slovakia. Ireland will play that crucial game at home in the National Arena in Dublin on September 10th where a win by more than 3 points will allow them to progress to the European Playoffs and earn the chance for promotion to Division A.
Ireland's Senior men will be competing with perhaps their strongest squad ever.
Cal Bowlder returns to the squad after a yearlong absence, while Conor Grace is back from college in America, and has just signed a pro deal with Viola Reggio Calabria in Italy for next season.
Jay Larranaga who helped Real Madrid win the Spanish title in June has just signed with Pompea Napoli in Italy but, not forgetting the inspirational Pat Burke, who was also instrumental in Real's victory, has received a recent boost by signing a two-year deal with NBA team Pheonix Suns just last week.
All are still however available for the forthcoming championships. So, confidence is certainly high that Ireland can have a strong campaign.
The final team is as follows:
Michael Bree, Lorcan Precious, Pat Burke, Chris Bracey, Marty Conlon, Jay Larranga, Conor Grace, Cal Bowdler, Jim Moran, Danny Mills, Dan Callahan, Justen Naughton.
