Spain battled their way to a 74-65 victory over France in Poland to defend their Women's Under-16 European Championship title on Sunday.

Both sides had approached the game in fine spirits after hard-fought wins in the semi-finals.

The French, winners of the tournament in 2001, had a 10-point deficit to make up at half-time, but came back valiantly to secure a 77-68 win and a place in Sunday's final against the defending champions.
