FYROM team Rabotnicki booked their ticket into the final of the Conference South final four with a win over Cypriot side Keravnos Keo.
A 14:2 run in the fourth quarter broke the game open after Rabotnicki had led for most of the second half, but couldn’t shake off the Cypriots. The first half was close and after 2 quarters the teams were tied at 42:42.
4 points from Marjan Gjurov and a three from Goran Samardziev gave Rabotnicki just the start they wanted in the 3rd quarter. They led by up to 9 points in the middle of the period but a 3-pointer from Aristides Koronides but into their advantage. By the end of the quarter Rabotnicki led by 6-points, 63:57.
This time momentum was on the side of Keravnos Keo and they used it perfectly to their advantage at the start of the 4th quarter. They opened with a 8-3 run which was capped by a spectacular alley-oop between Isaac Burton and George Banks. The score was suddenly 66:65 and Rabotnicki were forced to take a timeout.
The pause was just what Rabotnicki needed and they came out with 4 quick points, which led into a 14-2 run. Keravnos were forced to press but the strategy did not pay off. Rabotnicki consistently broke the press, getting easy lay-ups and increasing their advantage.
They ended up scoring 33 points in the 4th quarter and won 96:75.
Rabotnicki guard Alexander Dimitrovski had 21 points on 8/14 shooting and FYROM national team center Todor Gecevski added 19.
