|Allie and the rest of the Pécs 2010 team put up a good fight, but in the end Avenida were better in the details|
Szia from Pecs!
How is everyone doing? I had been hoping to write on the long trip back to Salamanca for game three of the eighth-finals but unfortunately this was not the case.
As you know, we lost a tough second game of the series here in Pecs. It was neck and neck the whole game but down the stretch, they made plays and we didn't. It really was that simple.
It was a one point game with about two minutes left and we had our chances to take the lead but didn't.
Overall, we might not have played the perfect two games, but we walked away knowing that we gave all we had. Losing never feels good but knowing you played as hard as you could makes it a little better I guess.
Well, after we lost, our wonderful coaches decided to give us an amazing three and a half days off! This felt like another Christmas vacation minus seeing family and friends from home - and being back in America ha,ha.
I honestly don't think I would want to be home right now anyways. I'm from the Chicago area so all I keep hearing about is the blizzard conditions and freezing cold weather they are experiencing. Cars covered in snow, roads closed, minus 20 degree weather and crazy winds. No thank you!
Pecs has been about 13 degrees Celsius lately (around 50 degrees farenheit I believe ) so it's been very nice to say the least. It feels like Spring but I know it's definitely a tease.
|Allie doesn't miss Chicago that much during the winter, especially when she gets photos like this from back home!|
It's only a matter of time before we get this one last wave of winter. Oh well, soon enough, I'll be able to sit outside and get some colour on this Irish skin! Oh yeah!
As far as basketball goes, our main focus is the Hungarian Championship. Games are going to start getting tougher coming up here.
We'll begin the Hungarian Cup soon and then gradually make our way into the play-offs. Every game means something now because home court advantage is so important for the play-offs.
We will use this as motivation to play hard and keep our focus. It'll also be very important for us to win this Hungarian Championship so we can secure a spot in EuroLeague Women again next year.
While we are obviously disappointed we didn't advance to the last eight of EuroLeague Women, but it'll still be fun to watch the rest of the games throughout the play-offs.
I'm excited to watch the Fenerbahce versus Sparta&K MR Vidnoje series in particular.
I feel like everyone thinks Sparta&K can't do it this year for a variety of reasons but I think they'll have that extra motivation to defend all their titles.
On top of that, I'm pretty sure they have the best point guard in the world and some other pretty good players on their team. So, you can't count them out.
On the other hand, Fenerbahce has been basically unstoppable this year. It'll be interesting to see how that series goes.
Well, I think that's all I have for now. I'll be checking in soon I‘m sure.
Ciao for now!
