Niels Giffey was hot property in the Bundesliga when he finished his college career and decided to go pro last summer with all strong teams in the league chasing the winger, who was one of the very few bright spots in a failed EuroBasket 2013 campaign. Giffey chose to return home to his native Berlin, joining a team that was built to compete at home and in Europe. While the athletic guard/forward himself admitted that he found it difficult adapting to European basketball and even practicing twice a day, he easily found his place in the rotation of Coach Obradovic. Giffey translates his hops into high percentage finishing inside, but is also able drain shots from downtown. The time for Giffey has come to step out of the shadow and become one of the main contributors for Germany.
