|Gamze Takmaz came up with 4 steals in Turkey's opening win over Romania|
Fresh from Turkey's opening victory over Romania at the U20 European Championship Women, we caught up with star guard Gamze Takmaz.
Here's what Gamze had to say about about her earliest sporting memories, missing her mum's cooking, and why she wouldn't change places with anybody else..
FIBA Europe: What is your earliest sporting memory?
I remember playing volleyball when I was younger. I played volleyball all through high school. I didn't start playing basketball until I was 10. I still play volleyball for a hobby. Am I good at it? No! I am so-so.
FIBA Europe: Do you read a lot of newspapers and magazines in your spare time?
Newspapers, no, not really. I like to read magazines more, I read a lot of celebrity and fashion magazines. I also read sports magazines. I like to keep up with what is happening, but of course I enjoy reading them anyway.
FIBA Europe: Do you have any websites that you visit every day?
Not every day, but I always read the Turkish Basketball Federation website, and I just have a look around at some of the Turkish newspapers so I know what is happening at home.
FIBA Europe: What do you miss most about home when you travel with the team?
Mum's cooking! I love it so much. She makes a lot of traditional Turkish food.
FIBA Europe: Are there any luxury items you can't do without?
No, nothing really. I can cope!
FIBA Europe: If you could change places with anybody in the world, who would it be?
Nobody, I would be myself again. I'm very happy.
FIBA Europe: What are your ambitions and where do you see yourself going in the future?
I want to play in Europe and become a better player. Of course, I want to play for the senior team, and hopefully I can do it soon, I hope next year!
