Last summer, when Italy closed the EuroBasket Qualification Round with a perfect record, Andrea Cinciarini earned his confidence back (something he had lost during his Euroleague tenure with Cantù) by running the Azzurri squad's balanced offence. It was the start of a very positive period, because in the following months Cinciarini became one of Reggio Emilia's big secrets, leading the newcomers to the play-offs (where Roma needed seven games to beat them) and to the EuroChallenge. Using his size - that allows him to play in low-post situations - and his personality, Cinciarini led his team by providing a scoring contribution too, closing the Serie A season in double-figures in scoring-per-game for the first time in his career, whilst also improving his perimeter shot. Coach Pianigiani appreciates Cinciarini's fighting mentality, and his solid contribution on the perimeter is also the right first step for the team's defence.
