She may only be 25 years old, but the playmaker is preparing for a fourth EuroBasket Women Final Round, having debuted while still a teenager in Latvia six years ago. While previous editions have seen her used primarily a bench player for short spurts of action, Bartonova is likely to arrive this year as the main point guard with much more court time and responsibility on her shoulders. That was the role she fulfilled at the FIBA World Championship for Women last year. She is now delivering against a fine youth career and is always very exciting to watch due to her high energy and intensity levels which also mean she is in perpetual motion. An accomplished 3x3 player, it is only the lack of a credible three-point threat which has prevented her from achieving more at the elite level. She will however be a favourite to lead the way in assists and steals.
