An excellent passer of the ball and with an added bonus of his imposing height, Anton Ponkrashov has the kind of attributes any coach would want in a playmaker. After enjoying a stellar career at youth level for Russia he was hailed as the next big thing in the backcourt and since that time, some people feel he has not quite lived up to expectations. However, after his 5.1 assists per game at the FIBA World Championship and 4.9 assists per game two years ago at EuroBasket 2009 in Poland, the left handed guard is beginning to deliver in a big way at the elite level as a creator although he probably needs to step up his own finishing. This Russian League All Star will play at his fourth straight EuroBasket tournament when he steps out in Lithuania.
