Career: Zalgiris Kaunas (Lithuania-junior team. 2002-03). Zalgiris Kaunas (Lithuania-LKL. 2003-…). Drafted in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft (#44) by the Orlando Magic.
The future of the Lithuanian national team. And probably a bright one! Probably very close to 2.20m, Martynas Andriuskevicius is not Arvydas Sabonis, nor Zydrunas Ilgauskas, but he possesses everything is his game to one day compare himself to these two Lithuanian centers. A very good mentality, a solid work ethic, great hands, above-average foot speed, and some passing abilities. A surprisingly "low" draft choice (44th). Maybe NBA franchises considered that he was still weak physically regarding his height, and tendency to get in foul trouble. The truth is, Andriuskevicius is still a prospect (1.5ppg at 8/23FG in the Euroleague) but, at his age, no other center can compete: 16.9ppg, 13.4rpg and 3.9bpg at the 2004 U18 European Championship. |
