Croatia's Damir Markota is the latest player to be waived by Euroleague outfit Union Olimpia, following the departure this week of American Ben Woodside and Bosnia and Herzegovina international Ratko Varda.
Markota appeared in 7 games for Union Olimpia, averaging 4.7 points and 6 rebounds per game.
Markota has already been linked with EuroChallenge side Türk Telekom, where he would replace big man Mehmet Okur who left the club to join his NBA team, the Utah Jazz.
31-year old center Varda scored 9.6 points per game and pulled down 2.3 rebounds per game in 17 minutes per game.
Shooting guard Ben Woodside has joined EuroChallenge outfit Armia.
Lietuvos Rytas has announced that Jonas Valanciunas "will not be leaving the club" ending speculation that the Lithuania national team player was ready to join the Toronto Raptors in the NBA even before the end of the season in Europe.
Valanciunas, who played a more than solid EuroBasket with Lithuania, is averaging 7.7 points in the Eurocup for the Vilnius outfit.
Besiktas are still looking for a big man to replace Semih Erden and are said to be looking at Britain's Pops Mensah-Bonsu.
The 2.06 center had featured prominently in Great Britain's qualifying campaign to EuroBasket 2011, but missed the final round due to injury.
Coach Gokhan Tastimur and Olin Edirne have decided to part ways, following a spate of bad results for the club. He will be replaced by his assistants Ali Burgul and Erdem Can.
The American guard has recovered from a long WNBA season and an ensuing injury and says she is ready to help her side to qualify for the play-offs.
